At FUMC Lockhart, we have a variety of opportunities for Hands-On Mission work

  • Caldwell County Christian Ministries Food Pantry
    We meet at the Food Pantry at 8:30am on the Third Monday of each month to prepare grocery sacks for the Food Pantry clients. Please join us as we reach out to our local community in this outreach ministry.

    FUMC is collecting diapers and disposable underwear for the CCCM Food Pantry.   Many of the Food Pantry clients have small children, or elderly parents.  Diapers and disposable underwear of any size are needed.
  • Knitting Ministries
    The UMW Hooks and Needles  Group meets on Thursday afternoons at 4pm. Their current project is crocheting hats, scarves, lapghans and shawls for cancer patients, the homeless, foster children, and residents at the nursing home.  Please contact the church office for more information.
  • Threads of Love
    The Threads of Love Quilting Group Is not currently meeting, but have provided many school bags for our Fall back-to-school mission project.    
  • Meals on Wheels
    We deliver hot lunches to the Lockhart Community during the months of September and December.  Please contact the church office if you would like to volunteer for this community service. 

  • UMW Card Ministry
    Volunteers meet on the 4th Tuesdays of each month at 11:00 am to create lovingly handcrafted cards for our church.

  • ELF, or Emergency Life Fund
    Our church is a point of contact for many in the community looking for help with groceries, gasoline, medical bills, etc.  In addition to HEB gift cards, we also provide a personal hygiene bag.  Please contact the church office to volunteer to help keep a supply of these bags available for our neighbors.  

  • Golden Age Home
    Our church has been supporting this Assisted Living Facility for many years. Please contact the church office for more information.

  • Angel Tree
    Each year, Karla Field provides an Angel Tree for the members of our church to purchase Christmas gifts for children whose parents are incarcerated in a local prison.
  • UMCOR Mission Projects
    School Kits:    In 2018, our goal is to collect over 30 school school supply kits.  Instruction for the school kits can be found at:  

  • Cleaning Buckets:   After the devastating  floods from the Hurricanes in 2017, our members contributed more than 30 cleaning buckets to help replenish UMCOR's supply.  
    UMCOR's supply of cleaning buckets is still low.   Instructions for filling the buckets can be found at:


    Take completed kits and bucketc to the church office for shipment.   

In addition to the Hands-On Missions, an altar rail offering is collected on Communion Sundays at FUMC Lockhart, currently the first and third Sunday of each month, to provide donations to these mission projects: 

January   1. ELF, FUMC Lockhart's Emergency Life Fund.
This fund allows our pastor to help the needy in Lockhart when they come to the church asking for help with groceries, electric bills, and other necessities.

                     2. UMCOR, United Methodist Committee on Relief, One Great Hour of Sharing.  Dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the globe.

February  1. Our Scouting Program. Our congregation has been supporting this Scouting program for 100 years!
2. World Vision, in coordination with the 30 hour famine. A Christian Humanitarian organization to help children in 100 countries.  

March       1.  Hays Caldwell County Women's Shelter  - Serves victims of family violence, sexual abuse and and child abuse.   
                      2.  Salvation Army - Founded in 1865, to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name, without discrimination.

April         1.  Easter Sunday:  Methodist Children's Home in Waco - Provides services to children and youth daily through residential care, foster care and other services.
                 2.  Mission Intern Program - Leadership development and encouragement of young adults in servant ministry.  

May           1.  Foundation for the Homeless - During 2016, more than 1200 adults and children used Foundation for the Homeless services to prevent, end or reduce family homelessness.

June          1.  Lighthouse 2911 - Helps families, children and teenagers succeed, and build a better future
                   2Caldwell County Christian Ministries  - Providing food and other services to residents of and transients through Caldwell County.

July            1.   UM Army (Rio Texas Conference) - Providing young people an opportunity to mature in their faith-walk and life skills through Christian service.  
                   2.   Crop Walk  -  A community wide event sponsored by Church World Service to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world.

August       1.   No More Malaria -   A global health project to beat malaria once and for all. 
                       2.   Heifer International - Working with communities to end world hunger and poverty and care for the earth.
