Announcements

Sunday Service June 20th, 2021

Happy Father's Day!

This Sunday we're continuing to unfold the theme of mission in relation to the scriptures. In mind will be the ever-inspiring story of David and Goliath from 1 Samuel 17, as well as the account of Jesus' response to his disciples' fears in Mark 4:35-41. The sermon is titled "Mysteries of Mission Part 2: Faith in God's Power."

Sunday Service June 13th, 2021

Join us for worship service in the Sanctuary at 9:30am, or LIVE on YouTube. Today, Pastor Clifton takes a look at the mystery of God's choosing -- or election -- of certain people for particular missions. Lookout: God chooses people like you for mission roles you wouldn't expect.

Sunday Service June 6th, 2021

Sunday Service May 9th, 2021

Happy Mother's Day! Join us in worship, either face to face in our beautiful Sanctuary, or via live stream on YouTube at 9:30 AM, Sunday May 9th. The sermon is titled: "Born of God, Bearing God."

We are contemplating 1 John 5:1, which says that "Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born from God." This truth relates to the way in which Mary gives birth to God -- the traditional title of Mary as "Mother of God" is in fact an affirmation of the divinity of Jesus. So there's being born *of* God, and giving birth *to* God, and these two together shine some light on our essential human and spiritual vocation.

Indoor and Online Worship Sunday May 2, 2021

Welcome home! We are so pleased to return to indoor worship in our Sanctuary, still observing masks and physical distancing. The service will be live streamed on YouTube for our at-home congregants. Pastor Clifton's Sermon Title is "Basic Christianity."

The Scripture reading will be: Acts 8:26-40; Psalm 22:25-31; 1 John 4:7-21; and John 15:1-8

Live Stream Worship April 25th, 2021

Join us in person on the lawn or via live stream for our last outdoor worship service of 2021! The sermon title is "The Lord Has Been Our Shepherd," and is drawn from the lectionary scriptures: Acts 4:5-12; Psalm 23; 1 John 3:16-24; and John 10:11-18.

If you join us in person, please bring your lawn chair and wear your mask. Next week, we return to indoor worship in the Sanctuary, still at 9:30 AM, and with masks and physical distancing still practiced for the health and safety of those who have yet to be vaccinated.

Good Friday Service, In Person and Online

We invite you to worship with us in person at 6PM Friday, April 2nd, for Good Friday when we honor Christ's ultimate sacrifice for love.

Why is this day "good"? It is good as in "holy" or "sacred," and also because through Jesus's sacrifice the door was opened to direct communion with God. And this is good indeed!

Maundy Thursday In-Person Service and Live Stream

We invite you to join us for an evening service, in person by the Big Jesus statue, or online, for Maundy Thursday.

Maundy is derived from the Latin word for "command," and refers to Jesus' commandment to the disciples to "Love one another as I have loved you." This is also the night of the last supper Christ took with his disciples, at which he washed their feet in a compelling act of service and love.

The ritual of taking communion, also known as Eucharist, is founded in this last supper, and ritual foot washing is often observed at Holy Thursday services.

We will be taking communion at our service, but, this year, due to the whole covid situation, we are not having the foot washing. All are welcome to partake of communion.

Palm Sunday Worship and Cantata

Holy Week is upon us! Join us in person at 9:30am by the Big Jesus. Bring your lawn chair and wear your mask as we celebrate Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Sunday Services TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED

In this holy season of Lent, we find we have entered a new, though temporary, reality.  We have taken a deeper pause, sheltering in place, thinking of our health and the health of those around us, praying more deeply, finding joy in unlikely places. God will use this time for good, shaping and molding us in holy ways. Like you, I wonder what I will glean from this time as I navigate life in a different way.

We will be preparing a recorded worship service to share with you via YouTube on Sunday, March 22nd.

In the meantime, here are some Daily Quarantine Questions (Greater Good Science Center) to guide and ground you as you shelter in place:

  1. What am I grateful for today?
  2. Who am I checking in on or connecting with today?
  3.  What expectations of “normal” am I letting go of today?
  4. How am I getting outside today?
  5.  How am I moving my body today?
  6.  What beauty am I either creating, cultivating, or inviting in today?

Know that we are holding you in prayer as we live these days. Be well! Please call or email to stay in touch and let us know how you are and what you need.

In hope and faith,

Pastor Nancy
