Stephen Ministries

What is Stephen Ministery?

Stephen Ministry is a one to one lay caring ministry that takes place in congregations that use the Stephen Series system. Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers - called Stephen Ministers - to provide high quality, confidential, Christ centered care to people who are hurting.

Stephen Ministries is led at our church by the pastor, Sharyl Ruiz and Dave Crittenden. Dave Crittenden has a power point presentation to provide you and your organization with more detail about this vital ministry. You may reach him at dcrittenden@austin.rr.com if you would like more information. You may also click on this link to visit the website https://www.stephenministries.org/ for more information as well.

Our Mission

The mission of the Stephen Ministry at Lockhart FUMC is to make disciples of Jesus Christ and equip them to be able to show God’s love through confidential caring to all people.

Our Vision

The Stephen Ministry of Lockhart FUMC embodies our church’s mission statement by fostering a supportive environment that cultivates a sense of community and belonging. Through our ministry, we seek to inspire active participation by members of our congregation in a commitment to service and outreach to our brothers and sisters in need. The Stephen Ministry brings to our congregation a practical and powerful way to respond to Christ’s commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12 RSV). With God’s help, we will train a sufficient number of Stephen Ministers equipping them for spiritual growth and Christian care to meet the needs of our congregation and community. The goal of the Stephen Ministry of Lockhart FUMC is to work to multiply blessings throughout the church and community.

Sunday, August 30, 2015 Lockhart FUMC commissioned their first class of Stephen Ministers. Shown at left is Byron Friedrich, Jodie Friedrich and Mark Nichols with Pastor Rob congratulating them. Below is Katrina Hodge, Ellen Massey and Debby Hall.
