Missions

At FUMC Lockhart, we have a variety of opportunities for Hands-On Mission work

  • Caldwell County Christian Ministries Food Pantry
We meet at the Food Pantry at 8:30am on the Third Monday of each month to prepare grocery sacks for the Food Pantry clients. Please join us as we reach out to our local community in this outreach ministry.

  • Habitat for Humanity
The Caldwell County Habitat for Humanity  is currently planning our third Habitat home in Lockhart.
For more information on CCHFH, or to join our group, please contact Jody King at 512-559-1135. Everyone has a talent that can be used to "build hope in our community."

  • Knitting Ministries
The UMW Hooks and Needles  Group meets on Thursday afternoons at 4pm. Their current project is crocheting hats, scarves, lapghans and shawls for cancer patients, the homeless, foster children, and residents at the nursing home.  Please contact the church office for more information.
  • Threads of Love
The Threads of Love Quilting Group meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm. They will have a program to discuss new projects, blocks of the month, charity sewing, etc.  Bring a drink and a light snack to share.  All ages are welcome!  Contact Diana Villa at villabear04@aol.com, or the church office for more information .
  • Meals on Wheels
We deliver hot lunches to the Lockhart Community during the months of September and December.  Please contact the church office if you would like to volunteer for this community service.

  • UMW Card Ministry
Volunteers meet on the 4th Tuesdays of each month at 11:00 am to create lovingly handcrafted cards for our church.

  • ELF, or Emergency Life Fund
Our church is a point of contact for many in the community looking for help with groceries, gasoline, medical bills, etc.  In addition to HEB gift cards, we will also provide a personal hygiene bag.  Please contact the church office to volunteer to help keep a supply of these bags available for our neighbors.

  • Golden Age Home
Our church has been supporting this Assisted Living Facility for many years. Please contact the church office for more information.

  • Angel Tree
Each year, Karla Field provides an Angel Tree for the members of our church to purchase Christmas gifts for children whose parents are incarcerated in a local prison.
  • UMCOR Mission Projects
After the previous years' devastating  floods, UMCOR's supply of cleaning buckets needs to be replenished.    Instructions for filling the buckets can be found at

    https://www.umcor.org/UMCOR/Relief-Supplies/Relief-Supply-Kits/Cleaning
Take buckets to the church office for shipment.

In addition to the Hands-On Missions, an altar rail offering is collected on Communion Sundays at FUMC Lockhart, currently the first and third Sunday of each month, to provide donations to these mission projects:
